  Chapter 1

Everybody calls me Angel. But there’s a funny thing about that. Mostly everybody has the same image of what an angel is in their heads. Feathery wings. The golden halo. If they’re not floating on a cloud, they’re descending from the heavens with a beam of light shining down upon them. Their milky white skin glistens underneath the rays from up above. Just looking at them instills some sense of peace and serenity. It’s otherworldly.

But that’s all just a myth, or at least, I like to think that it is. I’m not that kind of being. I’m not even that kind of woman. I don’t think I’m better or worse than the next person but the “angel” that everybody else is desperate to see, desperate to get a glimpse of, desperate to fall in love with… she doesn’t exist. This isn’t a fantasy. This is reality.

And I’m reminded of that every time I head out for work. I don’t punch in at a time clock and I don’t have to worry about showing up late. No, my workplace is the along the streets of this city. It doesn’t take you very long to realize that these aren’t the heavens that real angels come from.

If I hadn’t been here so long, I might have been uncomfortable but I’m used to it now. I’ve been doing this so long that I don’t remember when I first started. I was young. But it’s been years since then.

My world is full of the dilapidated buildings that stretched into the sky, a symbol of failed businesses and dreams unfulfilled. Junkies nervously paced back and forth into alleys and looked for a way to score that next hit because that’s all that mattered. A group of thugs laughed among themselves and waited to harass anybody who passed their way, even if they weren’t asking for it. The street lights flickered and the neon signs of the 24-hour shops reminded everyone that there’s always someone awake, regardless of what ungodly hour it may be.

Close your eyes and the sounds of the streets are an ambient noise you quickly adjust to. Arguments between people about the most petty things. Accusations of infidelity, theft and general dishonesty constantly fill the air. Sometimes it goes too far and the police sirens quickly follow. Horns honk. Engines rev. Brakes screech. Obscenities are yelled. Everybody is only looking out for themselves out here.

That’s my life. This is what I hear and see before I go to bed every night in my apartment and the first thing I see when I open my eyes.

I wasn’t born in the city but it didn’t take long for it to open up its arms and adopt me. I’m nobody’s daughter and these streets are the closest thing I’ll ever have to a guardian.

A woman always has something that every man wants. If she doesn’t have it, it means she’s no longer a woman. That's all I have. And that’s what I use to make it out here. I know that I’m fortunate. But not because of what I have. It's because of what they tell me I have. When I look at myself in the mirror, I see a woman who’s constantly told that she was blessed to look the way she does. I stare at my brown eyes and my plain brown hair and wonder what it is exactly that they see in me. I stayed away from anything that might harm my skin, leaving me with a fair complexion and my makeup is lightly applied so that my clients always got the real me. But I would never be able to see through their eyes. I would never be able to see the “angel” they always told me they saw.

Tonight, I looked at my dresser and decided which Angel they’re going to get tonight. With my hair tied-down, I snapped the short blonde wig onto my head and Angel became a golden-haired pixie. A pair of black thong panties and a strapless bra do the bare minimum to keep everything in its place. I put on a sheer red dress that ended at about the middle of my thigh. Then I leaned forward and adjusted my cleavage in the mirror to make sure that my small breasts looked a full cup-size bigger. Men were always a terrible judge of breast size. I didn’t mind though. Give them a little sample and they’ll want to buy the whole thing. A little perfume and some bright red lipstick to contrast my fair skin and the package is complete. Now to see who was buying tonight.

I walked the city sidewalks and balanced on the thin line of drawing attention to myself but only from the right people. My outfit left little to the imagination but the cops in this city have been lenient so far. I’ve had my run-ins but they’ll only harass you when they see something happening first-hand. I was always discrete, which everybody always appreciated.

I kept a brisk pace to try and keep my body warm since a jacket would cover-up more than I wanted. It helped that there weren’t many opportunities in the area. At the other corner, I saw a couple of other working girls looking for a target. I kept walking down the street to see if I could have someone all to myself. I eventually ended up inside of the small rundown casino at the end of the block.

This wasn’t Las Vegas. The glitz and glamour of Sin City were replaced by the dull lights of people just trying to make a quick buck. The denizens of the city spilled inside here, tugging on slot machines, rolling dice and flipping cards in an attempt to do something with the money they were throwing away. It was always a good place to spot someone who might be looking for some company. And sometimes, they would come looking for me. After all, if you saw an angel, wouldn’t you go up to her and say something?

I took a seat at the bar and the bartender placed my drink in front of me while I lit up a cigarette. I seductively placed the stick up against my cherry red lips and sucked on it just like I would something else because someone was watching. Someone was always watching. I tapped the cigarette ashes into the ashtray and like clockwork, a man took a seat next to me, invading my little cloud in the heavens.

“Give me some scotch, my friend,” he said to the bartender, his words slurring just a bit like it wasn’t his first trip to the bar.

I could feel his eyes upon me. I turned my head to him slightly, my head tilted up and took another puff of my cigarette before winking at him coyly. From the corner of his mouth I could see his lips curling into a smile.

  “Well… What’s your name, beautiful?”

“Angel,” I said to him as I puckered my lips around my cigarette.

“Angel… How appropriate. Nice to meet you, Angel. My name’s Brent.”

I offered my hand to Brent and he shook it. Brent wasn’t much to look at. His blonde hair was messy over his head like he had either been having too much fun in this casino or he had a really long day at work. His tie was loose around his neck and his suit jacket was wrinkled probably from having been taken off so many times before. I could see a bit of his gut sticking out from underneath his shirt. He was perfect.

“It’s nice to meet you, Brent,” I said to him. “Are you from around here?”

“No. No, I’m not. I’m in town for a business conference. My company flew me out here and now that my work is done, I ended up in this casino.”

  “
What is it you do, Brent?”

Brent went into elaborate detail about what he did and who he worked for. It had something to do with computer sales and how he was responsible for adjusting to market demands. I didn’t pay too close attention. I was just letting him talk. When I did that, it tricked them into thinking that maybe I was interested in them for something besides what was in their wallet.

“That’s really interesting, Brent. Really interesting.”

I continued to smoke the rest of my cigarette, making sure to accentuate my lips each time. I did the same with my drink. There was a moment of silence between us when I licked the rest of the alcohol off of my lips. When my tongue curled up against the opening of my mouth, it set off a chain reaction. His throat bobbed as he swallowed a gulp. His blues had stopped blinking. And most importantly, I could hear his cock beginning to thicken inside of his pants. He was interested. But now came the tricky part.

“So, Brent, how much longer are you going to be in town for?”

  “My flight leaves tomorrow morning.”

“Your last night in the city. I’m going to miss you, Brent.”

“Oh, now now, Angel,” he started to chuckle. “You don’t have to go and lie now.”

“No, I really mean it, Brent.”

  I didn’t.

“There aren’t many men like you in the city. It’ll be a shame when you’re gone.”

“Well, thank you, Angel. You’re a pretty special woman yourself. I mean, you should see yourself right now. All dolled-up and sitting there in your little red dress. Really special…”

I winked at him and narrowed my eyes to remind him that I was just as interested as he was. Then I turned in my chair to give him some better attention.

It always starts with the knee. In this case, I pressed mine up against his. Our legs touching each other signaled a prelude of what could come next. But only if he was willing to pay the price.

“What do you have planned for the rest of the night?” I asked him.

“I don’t know,” he sighed. “These machines are crooked. I wish I didn’t waste my time sitting in front of one of them while I fed it money.”

“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that, Brent. It sounds like this casino hasn’t been treating you too kindly.”

  “No, it hasn’t.”

“Well, why don’t we see if we can change that?”

“What did you have in mind?”

I bit the corner of my bottom lip as I stared into his eyes. I didn’t know if it worked or not but I would always try to do more than the obvious. When men locked their eyes on me, I tried to focus and will them into seeing things my way.

“Maybe we can spend some time together,” I said to him.

  “That sounds nice, Angel.”

  “We can have some fun.”

  “Fun sounds nice.”

  “What do you think?”

  “Yeah…”

He nodded his head, his eyes lost in a mesmerized trance. I pushed my knee forward, past his own knee and up against the inside of his thigh. The feeling of his cock continuing to engorge itself pulsed against the fabric of his pants and vibrated my leg. I knew that he was close.

“You want my company, don’t you, Brent?”

  “Yeah, I do.”

“It’s one hundred for one hour…”

  “One hundred?”

I could hear the surprise and reluctance as his voice suddenly shifted. Men would always pull back when I gave them a quote. And that’s when I really turned it on.

I lowered my hand down onto his thigh. Dancing my fingers up his leg, I searched for the tip of his thickening cock as it was restrained by his pants.

“Yeah, Brent. You’ve already wasted some money tonight. I can promise you that this definitely won’t be a waste.”

  “I don’t know…”

“We’ll have some fun. A lot of fun.”

He didn’t say anything. He just stared at me and sighed a deep breath. I knew that he was torn between the desire building up inside of him and trying not to blow all of his money on some girl he just met less than fifteen minutes ago.

“I promise, Brent. We’re going to have a lot of fun.”

I licked my lips again and narrowed my eyes as I stared at him. He gulped and started to look around. He was literally trying to free himself from my grasp but I wouldn’t let him go. Drastic measures needed to be taken if I didn’t want to lose him. I raced my hand up his thigh and found it quickly.

“Ooh!” I squeaked softly. “You’re a big boy, Brent. I like big boys.”

  “Is that right?”

  “Mmm-hmm.”

I raised my eyebrows at him and gave him an impish little grin. My fingers wrapped around his thickness. I started to stroke him softly through his pants. He started to look around nervously but nobody was paying attention. It was the middle of the night in a casino on a weekday. The bartender was too busy loathing having to work on such a night to notice.

“It would be a shame if you had to use this by yourself tonight, Brent… I could do so much more with it. Things you couldn’t imagine.”

He didn’t say anything. He just continued to look around, paranoid that someone might catch us. But I didn’t move my eyes. I locked them upon his face while I focused the rest of my attention on his pulsating thickness. When he turned his attention back to me, I opened my mouth and puckered my lips. I didn’t want him to use his imagination. He could have this if he wanted it. All he had to do was give me what I wanted.

  “But if you’re not interested…”

I started to pull my hand away from him and when I did, I could feel his body beginning to plead for more.

“I guess we can’t have some fun tonight,” I said to him. “What a shame. It wouldn't have been the worst way you spent your money tonight.”

I winked at him and returned to my drink at the bar. But even though I had stopped, I knew that I had done everything I could. He was a salesman but he was in for a lesson. I was a saleswoman with a pitch that couldn’t be matched. The almost stain in his underwear was the proof of that.

“A hundred dollars? And you promise that you’ll do what I want you to do.”

  “Mmm-hmm.”

I glanced over him at a second and kept a sly smile on my face. He reached into his wallet and took out some money to pay for his drink.

“I’m at the hotel across the street. Would you like to join me?”

“Why Brent, I thought you’d never ask.”

When I smiled at him, I could sense a bit of relief coming from him. He stood up from his chair and when he did, I uncrossed my legs to give him a sneak peek of the panties I wore just for him. I did it just in case he had any plans of running away. But it was unnecessary at this point. This city was a wasteland. This was the last place you would run away from an angel.

  Chapter 2

Despite Brent’s encounter with a heavenly creature, the experience was forgettable on my part. Needless to say, Brent got exactly what he was promised after giving me what I wanted. Brent was all I had last night but it was still a good night for business.

That’s who I usually targeted. Out-of-towners with a lot of money to spend. I never managed to snag a regular because anybody who had the money to spend didn’t usually spend it in this part of town.

The next night, I headed back into the casino to see if I could get lucky with another man like Brent. I looked around and was met with the familiar sight that this casino usually offered. Poor men hypnotized by one-armed bandits. Guys who put their rent money on the next flip of a card or the roll of a dice.

I put on my red wig tonight and a tight black minidress. There was something about tonight that made me think I was going to run into someone special. I didn’t know what it was. It was just a feeling I had. Of course, feelings like this have left me disappointed on more than one occasion. Getting your hopes up usually leaves you in a position to have them dashed. But I threw caution to the wind and decided to leap int
o the arms of destiny and hope that I would catch that special man’s eye tonight.

It wasn’t happening. I sat at the bar and waited for men to approach me but despite my best efforts, they walked away after I told them that there was a fee to get behind the curtain. I walked by the blackjack tables and the craps tables, trying to show my interest to the men who were having the dice roll their way. But the casino was winning tonight and that meant there wasn’t any money to spread around.

After looking at all of my prospects and realizing that none of them had anything to offer, I sighed as I left the casino. If only men like Brent had flown in with more frequency. They were the men with the Benjamins to spare.

I wrapped my arms around myself to brace for the cold of the night. The moonlight was shining down upon the slums, illuminating everything the street lights couldn’t. The usual riffraff were going about their usual meaningless business. I exhaled a sigh and my warm breath floated up into the darkness, a subtle reminder of just how cold it was.

I noticed something in the distance as I walked along the street. The big black limousine rode through the streets. It wasn’t often you saw a car like that in this part of town. Every now and then some high-roller would stop by the casino to throw his money away but I couldn’t remember the last time it happened. Maybe this was another opportunity.

The limo started to draw closer to me in the distance. Walking away from it, I continued to look at it periodically and I noticed it was getting closer and closer to me. I closed my eyes and pictured the limo pulling right up next to me. I smiled as I imagined the door plopping open for me with stacks of money waiting to be grabbed. For a moment, it felt so real.

I opened my eyes and from the side, I could see the length of the limo’s hood beginning to extend past me. I continued to walk and make my way through the streets in the hopes that I would catch someone’s eye. Then something strange happened. The limo slowed to a crawl right next to me. I looked over at the tinted window and saw nothing but my reflection. Suddenly, the limo stopped along the sidewalk. I did the same.
